Rest in peace Railey. You will always be loved and definitely missed. - James

Samuel Railey Efurd III, 39, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, in Columbus, GA, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Railey was born on June 6, 1973, in Dothan, AL, the son of Sammy and Marthe (Henley) Efurd. He graduated from Marianna High School in 1991 and from Chipola College with an Associate Degree of Nursing in 2004. He worked as a Registered Nurse for Signature Healthcare of No
rthwest Florida. In addition to being a nurse, he had been a certified law enforcement officer as an auxiliary with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, a certified correctional officer, a telecommunications installer, a repossession agent, amateur race car driver and was a BSA Eagle Scout.

He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. Railey was a problem solver and loved working on his projects. He loved to read everything from encyclopedias to western novels to any article he could find online. He was gifted with technology and was always filled with an insatiable curiosity on how things worked. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, which he only discovered in the past few years.

If he loved you, there wasn't anything in the world he wouldn't do for you.

He is survived by his parents, Samuel R. Efurd, Jr. and Marthe H. Efurd of Marianna; one brother, James Efurd of Marianna; his dog, Chipper; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel with Rev. John Tilghman officiating. Private interment will be in Clayton, AL, with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel.
